Potato is a native plant in South America which originally comes from Peru. According to the archeology studies the in case (original inhabitants in Peru) planted and use potato in the mountains areas as of the country in 2000B.C. in the 16th century the growth in population and the resulting food shortage force the Spanish and British state men to send their skilled sailors to the new continent in order to find new food resources. In 1524 a mariner called Francisco pizza landing on the shores of Peru noticed the potato farms in the region. A cargo of potato was shipped to Spain in early 1550s.until around 150 years; the potato was planted in some limited regions in Europe in loyal palaces and little orchards. In 17th and 18th century potato was the only relief for the repeated famines in Europe and was widely recognized as whole food source in 18th century. In 1719 it was sent from Europe to the North America and then to the Asia. Potato farming initiated in Africa since 50 years ago. The potato farms in 1995 covered around 18480 hectares around the world. China, Russia and the USA have the largest potato farm respectively bout the Netherlands (41 tons per hectare). Switzerland and England (39 tons per hectare), and the USA (36 tons per hectare) have the largest yields respectively. The world potato product in 1995 was 280679000 tons. 51.5 percent of the total potato produced in the world belongs to the European countries, 39.9 percent to the Asian countries, 2.6 percent to the African countries and 0.5 percent to the countries in Oceania.
